Durango Farmers Market

The Durango Farmers Market is a venue for local agriculturalists, ranchers and artisans to meet and share their harvest and talents with the Durango community. At our market you have the opportunity to meet face to face with the producers and learn more about their growing methods. Vendors post their farming practices at their booth and most follow organic growing methods.   Our market also offers hot ready to eat food from local vendors, value added foods such as jams, jellies and sauces and local artisans who make high-quality handcrafted items. All vendors must produce their goods within our five-county radius ensuring fresh produce and locally made goods. We also have live music performances each weekend as well as community information booths for non-profits and groups that promote our market values of local, sustainable and healthy living.
Sand Canyon Wildflower Hike

Celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day by joining San Juan Mountains Association on a free, guided spring wildflower hike at Sand Canyon within the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. We will be going for a hike (no more than 5 miles) on moderate terrain. Along the way we will observe and learn about the flowers in bloom, as well as learn about the area's geology and human history.
Perennial from the Garden

The Garden Club of Durango will host their annual plant sale, rain or shine! Come early for the best selection. Cash, check or credit card.   Plants are from local and member gardens. A large selection of irises, labeled by color, will be available.    Proceeds are used to maintain the gardens at Santa Rita Park.
Introduction to Iyengar Yoga

A class for those who want to start at the beginning and explore the fundamentals of Iyengar yoga!  This class introduces you to basic yoga poses and proper alignment, yogic breathing, and relaxation techniques to promote well-being and good health.  Enjoy improved flexibility, strength, balance, and ease while learning to practice yoga safely and effectively.   NOTE: Beginning Yoga is suitable for all ages and body types but is not recommended for individuals with significant illness or injury. Private sessions can be scheduled to address specific needs in a safe, one on one therapeutic setting. Please check with your doctor and the instructor if you have any questions or are unsure if it is a good time for you to begin a yoga practice.  $20 with advance registration, $25 @ the door

AKC All Breed Dog Show

The annual Durango Kennel Club dog show will be held at McGee Park in Farmington May 17-19. Over 500 dogs will compete for Best in Show each day. Join us to cheer on your favorite breed and meet new ones. Free Admission Great Food Vendors selling all things dogs.
SJMA Durango Nature Center Open to the Public

The San Juan Mountains Association's Durango Nature Center is once again open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 until 2. Sjma.org has more information.   This 140-acre conservation easement is situated along the Florida River, this special place traverses riparian, sagebrush, and pinyon juniper ecosystems. With hiking trails, river play, a picnic pavilion, interpretive trails, a nesting bird walk and more.

Back Care Basics Yoga Workshop

Yoga has the potential to strengthen our weaknesses and balance our asymmetries if we are willing to practice on a regular basis. "Alignment and Awareness" in asana are the keys to unlocking the benefits of Yoga's healing benefits. By building proprioceptive awareness and being skillful with our alignment, we have the opportunity to release chronic contraction and tension. Discover the joy and magic of light through stained glass! In this 2 day, 3 hours per day workshop, students will learn the basics of stained glass. Techniques being taught include: cutting, grinding, foiling, assembling, soldering, finishing, and the proper safety steps to take along the way. Students will have 2 pre-drawn designs, a variety of colors to choose from and leave at the end of the workshop with a finished Gnome Stained Glass Plant Stake!

Gabrielle Louise-   writes original Americana that blends a sophisticated use of musical harmony with a lyrical love for philosophy, history, and storytelling. Her voice is agile as birdsong in one moment and bold as a coal train whistle in another. Known for her authenticity and candor on stage, her performances delight with whimsical banter and enchant with dynamic musicality. After graduating Berklee College of Music in 2007, she crossed the country many times over in a veggie oil powered tour van, released nine records of original work, and has been entrusted to open for greats from Mason Jennings to the late Guy Clark. Career highlights include giving an original TEDx talk on storytelling, taking first place in the Songwriter Serenade Competition, 2nd place at last year's Telluride Troubadour Contest, and watching her record "If the Static Clears" climb to #6 on the National Roots Music Report for Contemporary Folk Album.
