Sorrel Sky Gallery is delighted to welcome back world-renowned photographer David Yarrow. Fresh from a remarkable season of work abroad, Yarrow returns to a town he has long considered a creative home, and to the collectors and community who have followed his journey from the beginning.
Surrounded by his powerful, large-scale images, Yarrow will speak about his recent travels through Norway, France, and Italy, sharing the vision, logistics, and occasional misadventures behind bringing these visual stories to life. From casting and costume to weather and light, few artists offer such candid insight into the making of cinematic photography.
This spring, Yarrow created one of the most talked-about images in the world of sport. Commissioned by the Norwegian Football Federation ahead of the country's first World Cup appearance since 1998, Yarrow photographed the full 26-man national squad, including global superstar Erling Haaland, in authentic Viking dress on a secluded fjord beach near Oslo with longships on the horizon. The image, titled "The Vikings Are Coming," went viral within days, hailed by international media as perhaps the greatest team photograph ever taken. True to Yarrow's philanthropic mission, proceeds from the work benefit Norwegian charities.
