Our third regular discussion for 2020 will be “Red Sea Security.” Moderator Dr. Ruth Alminas will present background materials and a film by the Foreign Policy Association, and lead participants in a discussion of the issues.    The public is invited to this free discussion and encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
Open Shop Day

The shop is a creative environment where other lapidary and jewelry artists generously share their knowledge, experience, techniques, and ideas. It is advisable to bring your own materials and hand tools if you have them. The Club offers an excellent variety of motorized tools, hand tools, and even some rough stone you may use to hone new skills.    Drop-ins and new members welcome. Experience is not necessary, however it is strongly recommended that new members attend a Shop Orientation that is held at 9:00 on the first Saturday of every month.    Anyone is welcome to join the Four Corners Gem & Mineral Club! Annual Membership fees are $30 per year for individuals and $45 per year for families (covers one or two adults and any children under 18 living in the same household)

Durango Creative District ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration party

SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY!   Please join the Durango Creative District in celebrating our recent official designation by Colorado Creative Industries on Tuesday, February 25.   We will be holding our ribbon cutting ceremony at 5pm in front of the Durango Arts Center where the new administrative office of the DCD will be located in 2020.   Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, we will have a celebration party inside the Durango Arts Center gallery with refreshments!

The New Colossus

A powerful production of The Actors’ Gang Theater, The New Colossus reflects on America’s immigrant history as the actors tell their ancestors’ stories, their struggles and their journeys from oppression to freedom. The play celebrates the courage and great character of the refugees who came to this country throughout the last 300 years. The members of the acting company are truly from different parts of the world. They tell their stories each in a different language, and each in different dress. The ensemble of 12 reflects a celebration of diversity in the U.S.
KSUT Presents Che Apalache in Concert

Che Apalache is a four-person string band based in Buenos Aires with members from Argentina, Mexico, and the United States. They recently released their second album, Rearrange My Heart, which was produced by Béla Fleck. Che Apalache began as a bluegrass band, but eventually incorporated Latin American styles into their repertoire. Evoking images from Appalachia to the Andes, their two records are testaments to powerful cultural and musical exchange. Combining instrumental prowess with tight vocal harmonies, they have created an authentic blend of genres to reflect the nature of their lives.   Tickets cost $27 in advance (which includes a $2 per ticket service charge to offset credit card and web hosting fees) and $32 at the door, and can be purchased here. Unsold tickets will be available at the door on the night of the show. Due to limited seating, there are no price discounts for children. All seats are general admission.
