Open Shop Day

The shop is a creative environment where other lapidary and jewelry artists generously share their knowledge, experience, techniques, and ideas. It is advisable to bring your own materials and hand tools if you have them. The Club offers an excellent variety of motorized tools, hand tools, and even some rough stone you may use to hone new skills.    Drop-ins and new members welcome. Experience is not necessary, however it is strongly recommended that new members attend a Shop Orientation that is held at 9:00 on the first Saturday of every month.    Anyone is welcome to join the Four Corners Gem & Mineral Club! Annual Membership fees are $30 per year for individuals and $45 per year for families (covers one or two adults and any children under 18 living in the same household)

Learn Life Lessons as You Learn Horsemanship.   From horse care on the ground to getting up in a saddle and riding, you will learn to partner with your horse and take those lessons into your everyday life! Each week, you will build on your foundation…setting intentions, making plans, focusing, and communicating with your equine partners. A great way to discover your leadership style and develop and build self-confidence.   Warning: You May Want To Own Your Own Horse After This!   Cost: $450 per person.  6 sessions, pay in advance. Non-refundable, but transferable.  Limited to 4 participants, 2:2 facilitation and instruction.  Weight Limit: 210 lbs

Durango Diaries: Sex education

Three sex experts will share stories about questions they encounter about sex: from the light-hearted to the more serious.    Erin Brandt earned a graduate degree in forensic sexology, launching her positive sexuality education journey. She’s worked at Planned Parenthood, a sex shop, FemSexComm, co-hosted a radio show and is a columnist for DGO Magazine. She has worked with all ages, and brings an enthusiasm and openness to the topic.   Liane Jollon joined San Juan Basin Public Health as a registered nurse in 2010 and was named the executive director of SJBPH in 2013. Having started her public health career in SJBPH’s sexual health clinic, she believes that sexual health is an integral component of overall health and wellness.   Maia Bomar is a senior at Fort Lewis College majoring in public health and minoring in gender and sexuality studies. She is the president of the Feminist Voice Club on campus and the coordinator of Horny the Sex Box, FLC's sex-positive, anonymous sex-education program.

Every Monday and Wednesday night, Durango Shin-Budo Kai offers a 2-hour Aikido class open to advanced, intermediate, and beginning practitioners. Discover a fun, challenging, and counter-intuitive martial art that teaches how to diffuse conflict or violence without adding conflict or violence. People across the age- and gender-spectrums are able and welcome to practice this transformative art. Wear a gi or comfortable, loose workout clothing.
