Join us at the Center for Innovation Friday mornings for Toastmasters!    Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.   Can't make it in person? We host the meeting virtually, so join us from home! Meetings will start at 7:15am every Friday.   
Scenic Round Trip Silverton Train

Embark on an Incredible Journey Through the San Juan Mountains!   For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this steam train plus spend 2 hours in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. If you long to unwind and enjoy Colorado nature at its finest, this is the trip for you.

Public Parking is in the field on the south side of Hermosa Meadows Road; Hwy 550. Do not park on the launch field.    Please do not park oat the Animas Valley Elementary as school is in session Friday am.   Please do not park on Hwy 550   We suggest warm clothes, tennis shoes or boots, no flip flops or sandals   No dogs allowed on the launch field. No smoking on the launch field. Please remember all events are weather permitting.

We will mix creativity with pleasure as we unwind from a busy week, enjoy happy hour treats, spend time with community artists, and, most importantly, hand-build a clay dish to use for years to come.    By the end of the evening your piece will be ready for glazing. You select a glaze which we will apply when your dish is dry. 'The Wonder of the Wild' with Edward Aldrich - Opening Reception

The "centralized" wildlife portraits of Edward Aldrich provide a window into a world that most will never experience firsthand. He invites us to contemplate that world, acquainting ourselves with the wonder of the wild. "While I'm painting, I can recall the original experience that my composition is based on, letting that energy and my love for that animal hopefully inspire the viewer."

Downtown Balloon Glow
6:00pm / 500 Block of Main Avenue
Brought to you by the Business Improvement District (BID)    Hot air balloons will light up the sky in Downtown Durango at the balloon glow in the 500 block of Main in front of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Depot.   Arrive around 6 pm to see the balloons inflate. The glow starts at approximately 6:30 pm, weather permitting. Visitors will be able to be up close to see the balloon pilots in action. Kids will love seeing all the colorful balloons! The balloons will come down around 7:30 pm, weather permitting. Schedule subject to change.   Make sure you bring your camera. Once you shoot all those great photos, there will be a portable t-shirt factory that can make a t-shirt and more with your favorite photos. There will also be "candlesticks" which are the balloon basket and burners, without the balloon. Pilots will let you get in the basket and pull the burner, it's really cool!   Weather permitting!

Native American Stories for All Ages

Fort Lewis College celebrates Native American theatre! FLC Theatre will perform 3 short plays exploring cultural traditions, origin stories, heritage, and belonging. All 3 plays are written and directed by Native Americans. In Wild Horses, a 12-year-old Tongva Native American girl from LA takes a fantastic journey, through the use of puppetry and imaginative characterizations, into her city and her family's history. Chief Tender-Foot has a problem… his feet! Is there a solution to his problem? Can 2 wily bison out-wit Buffalo Bill Cody?
