Backcountry Basics with VNTR Birds

Avalanche education is the best piece of gear you can have in the backcountry. Whether you're splitboarding, AT skiing, snowmobiling, etc. get the proper knowledge to help you move through the backcountry safely, efficiently and confidently. VNTRbirds tailored this Backcountry Basics course for women who are new in the backcountry. This course on Purgatory Resort is also a great fit for those thinking they are not in "backcountry shape" yet. We will take the lift up and then tour in the backcountry from the top instead of having to start from the bottom. Lift ticket it included with the course.

Purgatory Classic Ski Team Race

Come watch some impressive skiing during this 5-day USSA Super G and Giant Slalom race event.   Wednesday is a training day and "Flight School" with Super G training runs on Upper Hades and "flight training" on Pandemonium.   Thursday is the official sanctioned Super G training day.   Saturday and Sunday are the Giant Slalom race days. This event is open to registered USSA competitors of all ages.   These races are great for spectating and allow ample opportunity to watch the competition unfold.
Yang Style Tai Chi

Originating in ancient China, tai chi is an effective exercise for health of the mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and its health benefits can soon be realized. For many, it continues as a life long journey.   Yang Style is one of the five main styles of Tai Chi and the most well known in the U.S.. In this class we will introduce and practice the basic principles that make Tai Chi so unique and beneficial. We will learn the movements of the 24 short form. This practice has been known to help improve balance, strength, coordination and flexibility.    Denise Lane is a certified Tai Chi instructor. She has been practicing Tai Chi for many years and teaching it since the late 1990's.
The Art of Painting

Express yourself through painting and develop your artistic style in this inspiring class!   Come and join Durango Arts Center each week when a variety of Painting Artists will teach special techniques through different painting mediums!   Be exposed to a variety of tips, tricks and techniques used in creating masterpieces in watercolor, acrylic, oil paints, and pastels, while working with an experienced teacher to give you guidance along the way.   Beginners are welcome! This class is also perfect for students with previous painting experience or have taken this class before. 10 Classes, all supplies are included!

Kids 10+ with an adult*    *This can be parent/child, aunt or uncle/niece or nephew, etc. The idea is that we are better when we letter together!   In each session, we will letter together, then work on projects that you will remember for a lifetime.   You will also receive access to accompanying videos so that the learning can continue. You will also leave each session with handouts, mark making tools you get to keep, and an exemplar of your own to build from.   $125 per person, class size limited to 6. Email for availability.

Did you get a kick out of the Improv show featuring Mary Quinn? Well now you can get up on the stage under her instruction! Join the Solo Improv Performance Workshop with Mary Quinn   Mary Quinn will be introducing; Solo Performance Workshop. In this class you will learn the art of the classic clown, creating characters and finding their voice through improv. This is a beginner's course and all are welcome!
