Bokkendo (wooden sword) and jodo (short staff) date back to medieval Japan's samurai society. Training in these ancient arts offers people in the modern world a taste of bushido, or the warrior's path to a robust spirit and unbeatable mindset. Develop greater strength, balance, coordination, and poise. Beginners are as welcome as experienced practitioners. For 20 years, DSBK has provided fun-filled training experiences open to everyone.

Come watch some impressive skiing during this 5-day USSA Super G and Giant Slalom race event.   Wednesday is a training day and "Flight School" with Super G training runs on Upper Hades and "flight training" on Pandemonium.   Thursday is the official sanctioned Super G training day.   Saturday and Sunday are the Giant Slalom race days. This event is open to registered USSA competitors of all ages.   These races are great for spectating and allow ample opportunity to watch the competition unfold.

Join us for our upcoming "Intro to Tie-Dye" Workshop on January 21st, from 12:30-1:30pm at 11th Street Station. We'll be covering all the basics, as well as sharing our tips and tricks for making awesome one-of-a-kind wearable art!    "Give it a Try!" Tie-Dye Company believes that art is essential to our wellbeing, and that, by creating art together, we can grow together. Plus, you get a one-of-a-kind tie-dyed item that YOU MADE, you really can't beat that!   This workshop is great for persons aged 8 and up, but please note that participants under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present for the duration of the event. Love to play in the snow? Want to learn more about winter in the San Juans? Join SJMA and Mountain Studies Institute for our special winter hike series, Snow Science & Social! Back by popular demand, these snowshoe hikes are a great opportunity to explore the snowy landscape and learn more about winter in the San Juans.   On select weekends this winter, our education team will host snowshoe interpretive hikes from 1-3 pm, then welcome you back to our new mobile basecamp in the Andrews Lake Winter Parking Lot for a bonfire, hot drinks, and good conversation. Topics will include forest ecology, watersheds, climate change, and the future of snowpack in the San Juans.    These popular events are FREE to the public, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

No time to take a series of classes? No problem! Now you can take a fun, single class and knock out a beautiful project on a Saturday afternoon! We will hand paint a large Market Tote and do our bit for the climate now that paper plastic bags will be discouraged in Colorado. I will show you how to free hand a pretty abstract design, or create your own original design. You can also use my stencils if you like!

Join us for a party at Purgy's with Cerveza Modelo and some more great giveaways!   Anyone who shows up can get a raffle ticket. Drawing will occur toward the end of the event. Cheers!
