Alzheimers & Dementia Educational Event

Senior Center to host Alzheimer's & dementia educational event.
The Durango-La Plata County Senior Center will host "Effective Communication Strategies," an educational event presented by the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, starting at 12:45.
Attendees will learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
This event is free, and open to the public and no RSVP is required.

Monday Middle/High School After School Art

Each session students will discover fun and different mediums and concepts while creating extremely unique art projects! Classes offer fun, non competitive opportunities to explore new skills and individual expression. For questions, please email Deena Carney, Director of Art and Education at deena@durangoarts.org. Mud-Day Madness
6:30pm / Durango Arts Center
Mondays will become your favorite day of the week (Yes, you did read that right)! Learn about the historical evolution of pottery and understand the various methods to create shapes and forms. Walk with your pieces through every step of creation. Together, we will focus on two modes of creating functional ware through hand building and and wheel throwing to create functional art for everyday use. We will spend time exploring textures, shapes and colors.Space is limited to accommodate a small student to teacher ratio. Students will rotate through time on the pottery wheels. 10 Classes
