Cascade Canyon Winter Train

This unforgettable roundtrip excursion departs from Durango and journeys to Cascade Canyon offering magnificent views of the Animas River and the snowclad peaks of the Rocky Mountains of southwest Colorado. Spanning 26 miles each way, this 5.25 hour round trip experience is offered on select dates from November 19 through May 5. We recommend reserving your trip in advance online so that you have the best chance of securing your preferred seating.    Departing from the Durango Depot, this excursion takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with incredible views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River while relaxing in heated coaches. Cascade Canyon is a destination like no other and is the perfect setting for a fire-side lunch, photo opportunities or a walk along the Animas River during your 60-minute layover. All trains have a concession car with a variety of snacks and drinks available for purchase.    Boxed Lunches are available for pre-order. You can place your order during the booking process when you are reserving your trip. Narrow Gauge Day

We'll kick off summer with the annual FREE PICNIC and community celebration at the Durango depot. Our volunteer staff will be grilling hot dogs for members of the community. Enjoy a hot dog, chips, cookie and soda while jamming to the Bar-D Wranglers who will be performing on the lawn in front of the depot. Also, be sure to check out the Animas River Display featuring a 600 gallon aquarium currently stocked with rainbow trout.   Interesting railroad equipment will be on display including the Galloping Goose** and select cars from the Presidential Train. Tours will be available and we invite you to visit the free D&SNG Railroad Museum where new exhibits are added regularly. The model train is beloved by kids of all ages and is continually receiving enhancements.    Silverton summer train season begins May 6.
Narrow Gauge Day - Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose #5 Excursion

Join us on Narrow Gauge Day (May 5) when the Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose #5 will offer one hour train excursions from the Durango Depot (MP 451.52) to Event Park (MP 456.65).   Two departure times are available at 11:15am and 12:30pm.   May 5- Roundtrip Durango Depot to Event Park Excursions  Departure Times: 11:15am/12:30pm  Fares: $30*  * plus 8% historic preservation fee

Free and open to the public, this self guided, monthly event will take place rain or shine, the First Friday of every month throughout Durango with a focus on main street from north to south!   Businesses of any and all kinds open their doors and their walls to host an artist of their choice and follow a "reception" format- artist info, beverages and/or snacks provided, maybe even a musician- while locals and tourists alike flood the area to socialize, shop, eat, and celebrate the arts in all forms.   Join us every month!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with us this Friday night!    Ladies Night 2.0 is for those of you who HAVE PREVIOUSLY attended a Ladies Night at Horse Empower - now known as Ladies Night 1.0. If you loved your first experience, and are yearning for more laughter, more horse time and comradery, we promise you will love LN 2.0 as we head straight in to reconnect with the herd! Georgie and friends will be so excited to see you!   Each month we will have a new and exciting exercise that will have you working with our horses through obstacles and problem-solving exercises that will build on the last, promoting learning, self-discovery and a unique 'girls' night' horse experience you won't forget!   Cost: $85.00 pp, non-refundable, but transferable. Limited to 12 participants. MUST RSVP TO PARTICIPATE!   What to Wear: Dress in layers and wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty while horsein' around; closed toed shoes a MUST. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
