Veteran Benefit Breakfast - Open to Public

Great opportunity to support your local veterans while enjoying a delicious breakfast! Open to the public, this event is held every 1st & 3rd Sunday. Donations of only $9 for adults, $8 for veterans, and $6 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds help support local veterans!
Silverton Summer Train - Steam Locomotive

For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this train while spending a nearly 2-hour layover in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. Departing from the Durango Depot, this trip takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River on your way to the historic mining town of Silverton. There will be up to three steam departures depending on the date. The Silverton Steam Train departs daily at 9:00AM 5/6/23-10/28/23, 8:15AM 8/14/23-10/14/23, and 9:45AM 9/1/23-10/14/23
Buffalo Soldiers on the Rails

After a day at the Museum (July 16th), the Buffalo Soldiers are going to join us for an incredible journey into history. We will have a designated coach for the day. Learn about the history of the Buffalo Soldiers and their impact on La Plata County and the American West as well as the railroad, Durango, Silverton, and points in between with our professional docents. Enjoy lunch on your own in Silverton.   Tickets are $120 each and all proceeds benefit the Animas Museum and help to continue to provide programs like this. 29th Annual Autumn Arts Festival

Celebrating 29 years of presenting fine art and fine craft by makers from around the country, this juried festival takes place amidst the fall colors on quaint Second Avenue in historic downtown Durango, Colorado. The wide avenue, lined with restaurants and a variety of shops, is one block east of Main Avenue.

Healing Salve Workshop with Eco Everyday

Join us for a fun and informative workshop focused on customizing your very own topical healing salve just in time for the chilly Fall season and Holiday season! These semi-solid remedies use a combination of herbal oils and natural waxes or butters to create potent, shelf-stable products that can be used to soothe and hydrate the skin, promote tissue repair and wound healing, reduce pain, and so much more. Get a hands-on experience crafting personalized nourishing salve using herbal-infused oils and anti-inflammatory oils with the guidance of skincare formulator, Suchada of Eco Everyday and Maka Earth.   Each student will be guided through making 1.75 oz of a naturally scented and therapeutic salve using a plant-based wax that is non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, while learning about different essential oils and ingredients that add medicinal powers to healing salves. The student-designed salve will be packaged in a 2 oz amber glass jar ready to take home right after the workshop.

Bar D Wranglers perform in concert after supper with music and songs of old west cowboys, comedy, and lively instrumentals. The show is fun for the whole family.    Activities, shops, and ticketing open at 4:30. Supper is at 6:30. Open Memorial Day Weekend through September - Rain or Shine !    Reservations are required.
