Silverton Summer Train - Steam Locomotive

For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this train while spending a nearly 2-hour layover in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. Departing from the Durango Depot, this trip takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River on your way to the historic mining town of Silverton. There will be up to three steam departures depending on the date. The Silverton Steam Train departs daily at 9:00AM 5/6/23-10/28/23, 8:15AM 8/14/23-10/14/23, and 9:45AM 9/1/23-10/14/23

Salone Italiano: The True Story of an Italian Immigrant Family's Struggles in Southwestern Colorado by Kay Niemann is the story of an immigrant family living in Silverton during its mining heyday at the beginning of the 20th century. Based almost entirely on letters written by the Sartore family to relatives back in Italy and illustrated with the family's historic photographs.    This event is part of the History Live program. 9th Annual Literacy Luncheon

Durango Adult Education's Annual Literacy Luncheon event is coming up! This gathering is our highest grossing fundraiser of the year and is a time to celebrate our donors and partners. Enjoy a three-course meal and hear of the impact DAEC has made on the lives of our adult students. Join us for Making the World a Better Place Through Art! 10 weekly classes focusing on culture and humanity will become our most important subject. Students will explore ceramic clay, sculpture, college, and painting. Old West Cowboy Music Show and Chuckwagon Supper. Durango's favorite family entertainment since 1969. Bar D Wranglers perform in concert after supper with music and songs of old west cowboys, comedy, and lively instrumentals. The show is fun for the whole family.    Activities, shops, and ticketing open at 4:30. Supper is at 6:30. Open Memorial Day Weekend through September - Rain or Shine !    Reservations are required.

4th Annual Men in Heels Race

The 4th annual Men in Heels relay race will be a fun way for the community to help raise funds for a great cause. Funds will go to Women's Resource Center in memory of Gena Rych to celebrate her very special life and unique spirit.

Tuesdays | 10 classes | 6:00 - 8:00 | Sept 26 - Dec 5 With a live model, and an excellent instructor, where all supplies are included, at the DAC on Tuesday Nights!   Figure drawing is the practice of drawing from a live model in different poses. It trains your eye to see things that photographs just can't capture. This makes you more perceptive in all of your work—The biggest reason to practice with the human figure is because it has so much to offer.
