Silent Sundays with Swanson
2:00pm / Durango Arts Center
Come enjoy a Sunday afternoon with silent film classics accompanied live by professional pianist Adam Swanson! In February, we will screen the feature film WHY BE GOOD?, allowing Adam to play many of the Charleston-era, Prohibition jazz age dance hits with which he is very familiar. The movie will be broken into two pieces with an intermission. All films will be accompanied with original period music LIVE on the DAC's beautiful 9-foot grand piano. These events will be family friendly, so bring your kids and enjoy this fun and unique opportunity.   WHY BE GOOD? (Warner Brothers, 1929)  Starring Colleen Moore   Released right at the end of the silent era, WHY BE GOOD? is one of the most thrilling feature films of the jazz age. Colleen Moore was the epitome of a flapper girl during the 1920s, which is demonstrated to great effect in the first half of this picture. After a night of debauchery, however, she discovers that she is in love with her boss. What kind of a girl is Pert Kelly? Watch WHY BE GOOD? on the big screen to find out.
