26th Annual Dave Spencer Classic Ski/Snowboard Race

If you haven't already picked up your race bib, start the day by checking in at Dave Spencer Classic Registration in front of the Dave Spencer Center, ASA's Mountain Office. Registration opens at 8:30 am. You can pick up a lift ticket (purchase with your registration or the day of) and your race number. We'll have snow fencing and seating available outside.   The race isn't just about speed. Take as many practice runs as you'd like in the morning to nail down your time on the racecourse. Make your predictions after lunch, and try to stay as consistent as possible! The racecourse will be open for practice runs from 9a-12p, with the main event kicking off at 1p. Please make sure you and your team have completed your race run by 2:30p.    Lunch will be provided by Zia Taqueria!
FLC Alumni Ski Day and Apres-Ski Party

Love to play in the snow? Want to learn more about winter in the San Juans? Join SJMA and Mountain Studies Institute for our special winter hike series, Snow Science & Social! Back by popular demand, these snowshoe hikes are a great opportunity to explore the snowy landscape and learn more about winter in the San Juans.   On select weekends this winter, our education team will host snowshoe interpretive hikes, then welcome you back to our new mobile basecamp in the Andrews Lake Winter Parking Lot for a bonfire, hot drinks, and good conversation. Topics will include forest ecology, watersheds, climate change, and the future of snowpack in the San Juans. These popular events are FREE to the public, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Snowcat Dining Excursion

A handcrafted five-course dining experience at 9,000 feet. Back by popular demand! Enjoy this rare opportunity for spectacular views and a unique mountaintop culinary experience by booking a Snowcat Dinner Excursion. Guests will enjoy views of the alpenglow over the Needles Mountains from an enclosed snowcat as it ascends the trails on the way to a five-course meal. The only guests in the restaurant will be those who arrive by snowcat, providing an intimate and exciting feel — plus our Executive Chef will create entrees that are sure to impress even the most decadent diners.   The dinner begins with mulled wine or champagne while guests are allowed time to socialize and select their seats. Full Moon Howler: Snowshoe Fun!

One way to beat the darkness of this time of year is to get outside and enjoy it! While experiencing the alpine glow of the Twilight Peaks and the rise of the full moon, strap on your snowshoes and join SJMA staff for an 60-90 minute interpretive walk. Afterwards, take in the beauty of the moonlit landscape and mingle with like-minded folks while warming by the bonfire and sipping a nice hot beverage (hot cocoa and mulled wine will be provided by the Nordic Center).   This is an event for the whole family.   (snow dependent)   What to Bring: Snowshoes, if you have them. SJMA will have a couple of snowshoes for your use if you don't.   Cost: If you are a member of SJMA or a DNSC season passholder, you receive a 50% discount on the Howler.   More info / register through Durango Nordic Center today!
