Hand to God
7:30pm / Durango Arts Center
In the tiny, conservative town of Cypress, Texas, the shy, mild-mannered Jason is just trying to be a good son. When he joins his mother Margery's Christian Puppet Ministry at the local church, Jason discovers a burgeoning talent for puppetry, and it seems like things, after his father's sudden death, might just turn out okay. Tyrone the puppet, though, has other plans. As the foul-mouthed, independent, and devilishly funny Tyrone grows in strength, Jason's complex relationships with the school bully, the girl-next-door, and most importantly, his mother, are thrown into upheaval. An irreverent, occasionally shocking, and perpetually hysterical romp to hell and back, Hand To God's exploration of the ideas of faith, morality, and human nature will leave you sore with laughter.
Magic Beans & Desiderata
8:00pm / Animas City Theatre
$23 / $25 / 21+   Standing Room Only / Limited First Come First Serve Seating in the balcony.   Magic Beans have a passion for music that is as infectious as their songs, both of which have gained them national notoriety in a short time. The band honors the wide diaspora of American music by incorporating the flavors of funk, R'n'B, rock, soul, and even some country influence into a complete package that is noticeably their own. Their latest release, Unzipped, is an all instrumental tribute to lo-fi recording techniques, hip hop beat tapes, and 90's neo-soul. Previous studio releases like, Slice of Life, showcase the bands' depth of songwriting and composition as well as their knack for catchy lyrics. The Beans have extensively toured their analog dance music and neo-jam across the whole country, earning them an expansive fanbase.   Seamlessly combining the familiar tones and accessible sounds of the past with a modern spin makes the band a hit with music fans of any generation. Their soulful songs and entrancing dance grooves will fill your cup and leave you wanting more. Intended to move your body and your heart, the band draws you in with their music and their wonderful fanbase, Team Bean, makes sure you stick around. With an impressive repertoire of 100+ songs and resume of 1000+ shows in their wake as a young group, Magic Beans are sure to be one of those bands you'll keep your ear on for a long time.   https://www.magicbeansmusic.com  https://www.facebook.com/themagicbeans  https://www.instagram.com/themagicbeans  https://soundcloud.com/the-magic-beans  https://open.spotify.com/artist/6v39xVS6Vpmnun982EF8XH?si=qAVbQQloRGuayM1h53UWUg  Desiderata reflects the laid-back mountain environment where we formed in Durango Colorado. Starting out in the college scene, playing bars and house parties we had the freedom to experiment to find our own way to create the feel-good, captivating dance music we want to share. Blending a variety of sounds from Soul, Rock, Funk, Indie, Alternative, and Country leaves our sound without genre. The band doesn't know how to describe it and will generally leave it up to you to decide.   https://www.desideratamusic.net  https://www.instagram.com/desiderata_music  https://www.tiktok.com/@desiderata_music
