Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812
7:30pm / MainStage Theatre, Fort Lewis College
To conclude the 2023-24 FLC Theatre season, you will be transported to Moscow, Russia. The year is 1812. The setting - Leo Tolstoy's novel, War and Peace. Don't worry, we are not doing a musical encompassing the entirety of Tolstoy's epic work, but rather a 70-page segment, which was adapted into the Broadway hit musical, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Composer/lyricist Dave Malloy's adaptation focuses on "Natasha's romance with Anatole and Pierre's search for the meaning of his own life" (NY Post).    Great Comet got its start with Ars Nova in 2012. The production was directed by Rachel Chavkin and featured show creator Dave Malloy as Pierre. It then transferred to NYC's Meatpacking District the following year. After favorable reviews and enthusiastic word-of-mouth, the immersive production was mounted in a tent erected in the Manhattan Theater District before eventually making its way up to Broadway in 2016. The Imperial Theatre production starred Josh Groban and Denée Benton and received twelve Tony Award nominations. The show has gone on to play in professional and university theatres internationally to great acclaim.   Great Comet will honor the original immersive spirit of the show with the company using the entire theatre as its stage. This will be the Four Corners premiere of this unique show, and one you will not want to miss.   Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 features a cast of twenty including Harrison Wendt as Pierre and Katelyn Bowie as Natasha. The production is directed by Michael E. McKelvey and choreographed by Suzy DiSanto. Great Comet will also feature a live ten-piece orchestra under the baton of Dr. Wesley Dunnagan. The remainder of the creative team includes set and lighting designer James Padilla, costume designer Megan Sander, and sound designer Logan Roybal.
Moon Walker
8:00pm / Animas City Theatre
Special Guest TBA  $18 / $20 / 21+   Harry Springer may compose, produce and perform all of Moon Walker's music in his bedroom, but the electrifying and uniquely eclectic sound undeniably feels more fitting for a stadium.   When Springer formed Moon Walker at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, he was merely looking for a way to pass time and make some extra money selling songs to music libraries. "I sold some, and it was going fine, but then I wrote some songs, and I was like, 'I really don't want to give these ones away." Those songs that Springer just couldn't part with ended up becoming his critically acclaimed debut record Truth to Power. Thanks to sudden viral success on TikTok and praise from the likes of The Darkness's Justin Hawkins, the 7-track album quickly established Moon Walker as one of rock's most promising acts. Less than a year later, Springer released with his sophomore effort The Attack of Mirrors with great fanfare and coverage, resulting in 25 million streams across platforms in 2022. In 2023, Moon Walker continued the hos streak; signing to a co-publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and Limited-Edition Publishing. releasing his third album "Apocalypticism" on October 20th, and going out on his first tour playing shows across the country with sellouts in Chicago, Nashville, Denver, and Columbus.
