Originating in ancient China, tai chi is an effective exercise for health of the mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and its health benefits can soon be realized. For many, it continues as a life long journey.   Yang Style is one of the five main styles of Tai Chi and the most well known in the U.S.. In this class we will introduce and practice the basic principles that make Tai Chi so unique and beneficial. We will learn the movements of the 24 short form. This practice has been known to help improve balance, strength, coordination and flexibility.    Denise Lane is a certified Tai Chi instructor. She has been practicing Tai Chi for many years and teaching it since the late 1990's.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Coca-Cola Road Race

The pure essence of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic - the Coca-Cola Road Race is the event that started it all. Forty-seven miles point to point. Two mountain passes higher than 10,000 feet, monster descents, legendary champions, and you.   The Coca-Cola Road Race begins by category. You'll line up at a race-specific start in Durango at 6,512' and cross a finish line like no other in Silverton at 9,318'. This race is a Colorado classic that you want to be sure to catch.   The Coca-Cola Road Race is a competitive event. Non-competitive riders can register for the McDonald's Citizen Tour.   Reminder: Riders must be past Coal Bank pass by 12:40pm and Molas Pass by 1:20 pm or you will be pulled from the event. For safety reasons we cannot have riders descending into Silverton when the road reopens and hundreds of cars start returning to Durango
Iron Horse Bicycle Classic McDonald's Citizen Tour

The most popular event in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, the McDonald's Citizen Tour winds through 50 miles of Colorado's finest scenery. Cyclists conquer two mountain passes higher than 10,000 feet on this point-to-point ride, along with more than 6,000 feet of vertical climb and two breathtaking descents.   Ride in the spirit of those first friends who challenged each other to beat the train. Line up in Durango at 6,512', cross a finish line like no other in Silverton at 9,318', and earn bragging rights forever—whether you aim to beat the train or just enjoy the ride.   The McDonald's Citizen Tour is a non-timed, non-competitive event. Riders in the Quarter Horse to Purgatory will tour the 25 scenic miles from Durango to Purgatory Resort. After riding through the gorgeous Animas River Valley, you’ll tackle more than 2300 feet of vertical climb to finish among food, fun, and festivities in the Village Plaza.   This point-to-point tour is great for beginning riders or families who want to participate in all the exuberance of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic by completing a quarter-century at 8800’.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic La Strada La Plata Gravel

This beautiful tour of the Durango Gravel Race will not disappoint in all lengths. From the short 55 mile course, you will get 4,985 feet of climbing or up to the 7,392 feet of climbing in the long 93 miles ride. There will be several aid stations for each ride. Please review and download the GPX files for a more detailed course description as well as to ride the course ride day.   Cross bikes, mountain bikes, and road bikes with 700 x 33c or larger tires are sufficient for the course.
Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Suburu MTB

A classic Durango ride using trails within the Horse Gulch system. Start and finish at Durango Mesa Park and utilize segments of the Colorado High School State Championships course. Durango Mesa will be hosting a cycling festival with vendors, food, music and beer as well as other bike races going on including new trails. Family friendly event with plenty of kids activities!

Steamworks Half Marathon
8:00am / Point-to-Point route
This high-elevation, 13.1 mile race will take place at 6,500 feet above sea level. The course is a point-to-point route. Runners will race down county road 250, alongside the Animas River. The race will finish at the Durango Sports Club on Florida Road.    After the race, enjoy a party by the pool at Durango Sports Club with food and drinks from Steamworks Brewing and Homeslice Pizza. The race is capped at 300 runners and it will sell out, so be sure to register as soon as possible.  
The race will begin at 8 am, with an additional start time at 7:15 am for those who need longer to complete the course. Runners have the option to be bussed to the start line from the Durango Sports Club on the morning of the race. OR, be dropped off by a friend or family member. However, there is no parking available at the start line. Please plan accordingly.    Packet pickup will take place on Friday June 10 from 10am - 6pm at Durango Running Company, 473 E. College Dr.

Come join us for 50+ Yoga with Chair Assist at our neighborhood Florida Mesa Grange! Participants develop a sense of community by practicing together!   The class will be every Wednesday at 9 a.m. The class will be for men and women in mid-life who are active and in reasonable good health. Beginners are welcome. We will focus on stretching, strengthening and balance along with warm-ups, sun salutations and yoga poses.   Cost: $65.00 for 10 punch pass; $9.00 drop-in  Bring your yoga mat, if available two blocks and two blankets.
