The Fort Lewis College Percussion Ensemble and FLC Jazz Combo will present an exciting evening of rhythm, color, and groove. The concert will feature a wide range of musical styles and soundscapes, highlighting the versatility and creativity of the college’s percussion and jazz programs.
The Percussion Ensemble will perform a dynamic set including Head Talk by Mark Ford, a high-energy and rhythmically intricate work that combines humor, groove, and theatrical flair; The Gilded Cage by Susan K. Powell, an evocative and expressive piece exploring the contrast between freedom and restraint through shimmering textures and resonant harmonies; and Happenstance by Derek Tywoniuk, a modern work that blurs the lines between composition and improvisation, inviting performers to interact with spontaneity and precision.
The FLC Jazz Combo will round out the program with a set of jazz standards and contemporary favorites, showcasing the improvisational skill and ensemble cohesion of Fort Lewis College’s talented jazz students.
The concert is free and open to the public. Join us on November 4th for an evening that celebrates innovation, collaboration, and the vibrant musical community at Fort Lewis College.
