America, We Sing is a vibrant and heartfelt celebration of our nation’s musical heritage, presented by the Durango Children’s Chorale, Durango Youth Chorus, and the Durango Choral Society, with special guests, the Caliente Children’s Choir. This inspiring concert weaves together the rich tapestry of American song, featuring beloved folk tunes, powerful spirituals, Broadway favorites, and music rooted right here in Colorado.
Audiences will experience a special premiere of a new work for children’s choir by composer C. Scott Hagler and Durango’s own musician and educator, Rochelle Mann—highlighting the creativity and talent within our own community. Also on the program is Oh, Durango by local Jerry Harris who was drawn by the area's natural beauty, as well as its entertainment and cultural opportunities long before moving here with his wife Linda in 2014
Honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Colorado, America, We Sing! will be a joyful tribute to the voices, stories, and traditions that unite us. Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of music that celebrates both our shared history and the next generation of singers.
