DESCRIPTION
Everyone is invited to sign up for this FREE 2-day training May 4th & 6th. This is a great opportunity for care providers to learn more about Person Centered Thinking.

Please go to www.copct.org for more information! You can also sign up for the training by going to www.copct.org. You MUST register through the website or the direct link stated above.

This 2-day, instructor-led training, focuses on changing perspectives from caring for people with intellectual & Developmental Disabilities to providing balanced support between what is important to a person and what is important for a person. The two interactive days help participants change their thinking from a priority of fixing what is wrong with a person to supporting each person's opportunities to share their gifts and live an everyday life. Eight specific tools for creating the structure of person centered thinking are taught across the two days. The first day's focus is on exposure to the concepts; the second day provides experience in applied learning, intended to begin skill development. There is no prerequisite for this course. This course is appropriate for all people in direct support roles (staff, family, friends) as well as for administrators and policy makers and is offered at no cost to participants.

Participants will:
• Learn to distinguish between Important To and Important For when discovering what represents balance in someone's life.
• Learn how to have conversations that get the most helpful information.
• Learn the difference between supporting and fixing.
• Learn how to develop a 1-page Person Centered Profile.
