Garden Tool Care: Sharpening, Cleaning, and Oiling before Winter

DESCRIPTION
We all want our tools to last and be able to do their job. Let’s give them some TLC at the end of the season. Learn the proper techniques, tools, and materials to sharpen and oil your tools before putting them away for the winter. Feel free to bring one of your own tools for some hands on practice!

Tools we will cover include:
Shears & Clippers
Shovels
Hoes

These workshops are provided for farmers, landowners, backyard & community gardeners, and the general public. This workshop is most applicable to backyard & community gardeners, small farmers, anyone who landscapes their yard.

Presenter, Brooke Frazer, the Manna Soup Kitchen Garden Coordinator, has a varied background in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and farming. Brooke started a successful SPIN inspired urban farm in Durango and is excited to be growing food downtown at Manna Soup Kitchen. Brooke enjoys playing roller derby, mountain biking, snowboarding, and remodeling her house when she isn't in the garden.

This workshop is presented in partnership between The Garden Project of Southwest Colorado and La Plata Conservation District.
