Steamworks’ Firkin Fridays, held the first Friday of each month, is designed to introduce a range of specialty craft beers, coordinated with the season or holidays, not necessarily suited to large draft production. A firkin is an old English unit of volume, typically a wooden cask equal to approximately one-quarter of a regular barrel, or nine gallons.

April's Brew will be "Spring Fever Firkin". The base beer is our One Wit Wunder, the Belgian style wheat beer that is already spiced with coriander and Curacao (bitter) orange peel. We've added extra spice in the form of sweet orange peel and lemongrass the re-fermented it with freshly pureed pineapple and its juice. The result should be a spicy, citrusy wheat beer with the sweetness of pineapple and a subtle herbal essence of lemongrass. It should be a refreshing spring elixer.
