It has a funny name but is a blast to play. Pickleball is a sport that you can pickup easily and start having fun immediately; it is for players of all ages, men and women, and a great place to meet and make new friends. The Southwest Colorado Pickleball Association (SWCPA) offers a free introductory class every Tuesday morning 8:30-9:30 in the Durango Recreation Center gym (you must pay the Rec Center admissions fee.) Learn the basics of the sport — the rules and scorekeeping, how to hit and return the ball, and serve and receive; paddles and balls are provided. Instruction is provided by SWCPA members. Come on out and get involved in the nation’s fastest growing sport.
