Bear Smart Durango will be at the La Plata County Fair with activities and public outreach on coexisting with bears in a rural setting. Topics will include electric fencing and livestock guardian dogs to deter bears and managing common attractants. The public is invited to bring in old bird feeders to be decorated on Thursday. An electric fencing demo will be held Saturday at 2 PM. And drawings for electric fencing-related prizes!
