If so, join Durango Nature Studies for a Tarantula workshop on September 28th. Fall is Tarantula time in the high deserts and Pinon-Juniper forests of the Colorado plateau. Hidden underground for most of the year, these reclusive residents give in to a wanderlust that drives males to rove great distances in search of females, in the process exposing themselves to predation, and perhaps most dangerous of all, the potentially violent whims of the females themselves! Join us for an exploratory hike, fun facts, and activities centered on the lives of these fascinating creatures.
