The Art & Design Department at Fort Lewis College will host the opening reception of a new exhibition, Peter Precourt: The Katrina Chronicles, on Monday, October 8th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Prior to the reception, the Art Gallery will host an Art & Conversation presentation with the artist from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. The The Katrina Chronicles will exhibit from October 8 to November 1, 2018.

In 2005, Peter Precourt moved his family to Gulfport, Mississippi to take a position as chair of the painting area at a small college overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Less than a month later, he lost most of his possessions, including his art, art supplies and slides in Hurricane Katrina. The Katrina Chronicles are told in a visual form that hovers somewhere between a graphic novel, a journal entry, a painting, a memoir and a flippant conversation. It is pieced together on the most delicate and fragile of surfaces - paper.
