Located at the historic Strater Hotel in Durango, Colorado, this great little theatre has been putting on shows and Melodrama since the early 1960’s when it housed the Diamond Circle Melodrama. Now, the Durango Melodrama has taken its place and proudly presents this summers production of “The Two Orphans”, By Eugene Corman and Phillipe d'Ennery.

As always, the show will be followed by a hilarious set of Vaudeville routines that are sure to end the night with belly laughs and songs. You can hiss the Villain, cheer the Hero, well you know the rest! This beautiful theatre is just the right setting for an affordable night of family fun and camaraderie.

The Two Orphans
This is the story of two orphan girls, Henriette and Louise, who make their way to Paris. Henriette is kidnapped leaving her blind sister at the mercy of the unscrupulous Mme. La Frochard. The latter provides Louise with shelter on the condition that she begs for money. La Frochard has two sons; Jacques, the elder, who torments Louise, and Pierre, who falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Henriette has been arrested and sent to prison on a misunderstanding. A kindly doctor secures her release, but will she ever see her lost sister again...?
