DAC and Maria’s Bookshop Present:
An Evening With Senator Gary Hart Featuring Durango, His New Novel About The Animas-La Plata Water Project
Monday, September 10
Presentation and Q and A at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.)
The Durango Arts Center and Maria’s Bookshop are pleased to present an evening with Senator Gary Hart, whose new novel, Durango, is a fictional take on very real events here in our community: the creation of the controversial Animas-La Plata Water Project. The novel features a handful of characters who are clearly inspired by Durango community members, including Fort Lewis College history professor Duane Smith; Durango Herald publisher Morley Ballantine and attorney Sam Maynes, who played a key role in the ALP Project.
The presentation and book signing will take place in the DAC Theater in conjunction with the Water in the West exhibit in the DAC Gallery, which runs from August 10 through September 15.
Book signing to follow the presentation.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door, and are available at both the Durango Arts Center at Maria’s Bookshop.
