This ceramic invitational will display tea and drinking ware from an international selection of pre-eminant ceramic artists. Approximately 40 national and internationally recognized potters will submit 3-4 chawan (ceremonial tea bowls) or yunomi-inspired tea cups for this exhibition.
Along with the ceramic forms there will be:
*A display of traditional jizai and tetsubin (traditional hearth pot holders and iron tea kettles from Japan)
*Daily scheduled tea offerings
*Lectures about tea, tea ceremony and tea-spirit
*Films of traditional potters and firings
*Demonstrations of the ceramic techniques utilized in the making of these vessels
