Topic: Chew the Forest to Sustain the Forest (and Community) Speaker: Steve Hartvigsen, US Forest Service The Pagosa-Area Long-term Stewardship Contract, a "partnership" between the San Juan National Forest and JR Ford (dba Renewable Forest Energy, LLC), will meet Forest objectives for fuels reduction, forest restoration and forest health improvement through removal of excess trees in an efficient and economical manner. The resulting biomass will be utilized to generate up to 5 megawatts of power to the Archuleta County area. Together these efforts will lead to greater ecological and community resilience.
