At 78 years old, Fiesta is a grand old lady. Celebrate our Spanish History and cowboy heritage with rodeos, a downtown parade, barrel races, chuck wagon cook-off, pancake breakfast, and much more. Celebrate in Durango as we look to the past and to the future in July.
Fiesta Days was born in 1935 – then called Spanish Trails Fiesta. Fiesta was a community gathering to bring together the areas diverse cultures and create an atmosphere of cultural awareness. The first ‘Queen’ rode down Main Street wearing a Spanish Mantilla. The native tribes from all around the four corners came, set up tents along the river, and camped for several weeks just enjoying the cultural exchange. In 1966, under a new committee, the name was changed to Navajo Trails Fiesta, and in 1986 another name change occurred – Durango Fiesta Days. The intent remains the same – bring the town together to enjoy our heritage, the sport of Rodeo, and our diverse cultures.
