In this 3 1/2 to hour class you will learn how to make a soldered prong setting. This technique works well for irregular shaped objects such as ammonites and other fossils, sharks teeth, druzy quartz, enamel art and found objects like beach glass and broken pottery.
Skills will include sawing, soldering, shaping and filing metal.
Druzy quartz, beach glass, fossils and old coins will be provided, but feel free to bring a treasure from home. You will use a 1.25 inch square piece of sterling silver, so be sure your object fits within those dimensions on all sides. All materials are included.
This is a beginner soldering class. No prior metalsmith or torch experience is required.
