A Pilot Program from the Durango Farmers Market
What is 2nd Saturdays on Main?
2nd Saturdays on Main is a special monthly event where the Durango Farmers Market moves to Main Street! In partnership with the City of Durango and the Business Improvement District (BID), we’re piloting this program by relocating the market footprint to the 900–1100 blocks of Main Street on the second Saturday of August, September and October.
This exciting move opens up new opportunities for community engagement, vendor participation, and downtown vibrancy.
We believe Main Street should be more than just a road—it should be a place where community thrives.
Why Are We Doing This?
This program is designed to:
• Activate Main Street as a public space for gathering and connection
• Provide a larger, more accessible space for all of our vendors and guests
• Create space for collaboration with local nonprofits and organizations
• Highlight our regional food system and its importance to Durango
• Support local agriculture and continue to grow community—the heart of our mission
What’s New?
We’re thrilled to launch our brand-new education initiative:
Taste the Market: Guest Chef Program
Each Second Saturday, a local chef will lead a live cooking demonstration using fresh ingredients sourced directly from the market. Here’s what to expect:
• A chef-led cooking demo highlighting seasonal market produce
• Free bite-sized samples for attendees (300–500 servings!)
•Printed recipe cards featuring the chef and local vendor ingredients
•A chance to learn, taste, and connect through food
We’ve made it easy for you to enjoy your visit:
Customer Parking: TBK Bank parking lot will be designated for market customers
Additional Parking: The Durango Transit Center lot is available as usual
Restrooms:
• The Transit Center bathrooms will remain open
• The Durango Welcome Center (8th & Main) restrooms are also available
• Portopotties will be located near 10th and 11th Streets
2nd Saturdays on Main is about making space—for farmers, for learning, and for each other. It’s a bold new step toward a more vibrant downtown, centered on local agriculture and community connection.
