"Inocente": Film screening and discussion

DESCRIPTION
The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College will host a special screening of the acclaimed documentary short film "Inocente". Told in her own words, "Inocente" is a coming-of-age story about the determination of a teenage artist who struggles as a homeless and undocumented immigrant, facing poverty and a chaotic family life. Under overwhelming circumstances, she finds the power in her art to take control of her life and future. "Inocente" won the 2013 Academy Awardâ„¢ for Best Documentary (Short Subject). Fort Lewis College Associate Professor of History, Dr. John Baranski will host a moderated discussion with the audience following the screening.
