Steamworks Brewing Co. will bring back the popular “Irish Car Bomb” as Firkin Fridays continues at the brewpub on Mar. 7, 2014. The firkin will be tapped at 3 p.m. “Just a reminder, it’s a very smooth brew, but it could hit you hard, and you probably won’t feel it coming,” said Steamworks Brewer and Certified Cicerone® Spencer Roper, explaining that the Irish Car Bomb is named for the beer’s effect and not intended as a political statement. The Irish Car Bomb has as its base Steamworks’ Backside Stout, which features complex malt and oat flavor. Its second fermentation is with Irish Cream and Jameson whiskey flavors. “It continues to be our most popular firkin,” said Steamworks Brew Master and Certified Cicerone® Ken Martin. “So, it’s something everyone can look forward to this time of year. We’ve made two firkins, so we can have one at the brewpub for Firkin Fridays, and people supporting the Clam Bake can enjoy an Irish Car Bomb as well.”
