The Altius Quartet, first prize winners at the Plowman International Chamber Music Competition, present their concert as Fellowship Quartet in Residence with special guests David Gerstein and Conservatory Director Matt Albert. Known for its passionate performances and unified sound, Altius Quartet is quickly becoming one of Dallas' premiere string quartets. The group formed in 2011 with the purpose of performing with renowned artists, and has since achieved multiple awards at festivals and competitions.
Music in the Mountains Conservatory is a two week summer program of intense instruction for high school and college aged string players. This year, the Conservatory will run during the first two weeks of the Music in the Mountains Festival. Matt Albert, Conservatory Director, and his talented faculty will lead the students through lessons in string orchestra, chamber music, private lessons, master classes, performances, and activities to take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding Durango.
