In celebration of America's 250th anniversary and Colorado's 150th year of statehood, Home of the Brave will host a July 4th/5th commemorative gathering at Bear's Ranch in Durango, Colorado. Join us this Fourth of July Weekend from 10AM-6PM Saturday Sunday for a special event!
This event will honor the Americans and Coloradans who answered the call during World War II and across generations of service. Programming will include a patriotic flag ceremony, veteran recognition, historical displays, community storytelling, family-friendly activities, kids bike race, food and beverage, live music, and a public reading reflecting on Colorado's role in defending freedom at home and abroad.
Home of the Brave began in Honolulu as a WWII living history museum and is now being rebuilt in Colorado as a heritage destination dedicated to remembrance, education, and civic unity.
This commemoration aligns with the America 250 - Colorado 150 mission by honoring the state's military heritage, celebrating civic pride, and engaging the community in intergenerational storytelling.
Event Goals:
• Honor Colorado veterans and military families
• Inspire civic engagement and historical reflection
• Unite the community around shared American heritage
• Launch long-term development of the Home of the Brave museum campus
