The protégé (and longtime friend) of the legendary Townes Van Zandt, country music great Steve Earle has emerged as a legend in his own right. A profound storyteller and songwriter, he found early success writing songs for big-name artists including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmy Lou Harris and many more. With his first album, Guitar Town, in 1986 he altered the direction of country music combining twanging, tuneful country rock material with tough, unsentimental songwriting that had more in common with Bruce Springsteen than Nashville.
