DESCRIPTION
This free event includes viewing a museum exhibit about the history of sheep and sheepherding as practiced along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway using historical and contemporary artifacts and photographs. The exhibit looks at herding and driving as well as the associated economic and artistic endeavors including textiles and arborglyphs. Outdoors, there will be Ballet Folklorico dancers, food, spinning and weaving demonstrations, live Churro sheep (the historic sheep of the Driveway) and a garden of plants traditionally used for textile dyes. In the historic cabin, there will be Hispano stories and songs for children. We hope that you can join us to celebrate aspects of our regional Hispano culture. Museum entry is free the day of the opening. This event is brought to you by San Juan Mountains Association and the Animas Museum. The museum exhibit can be viewed through November 29, 2014.
