“Connected by a Threadâ€
Quilts and Quilters from the Four Corners
January 9–31
Opening Reception: Friday, January 9 from 5-7 p.m.
“Connected by a Thread†is an exhibition about quilts and quilters. Some of the vintage quilts on exhibit are over a hundred years old, on loan from local collectors, and come with remarkable stories about their makers. Many are anonymous, made of flour sacks and old shirting but made with love and an incredible design sense, having strong colors and dynamic patterns.
The contemporary pieces chosen for the exhibit are from quilt and textile artists of the Four Corners area. They echo the sense of personal style and storytelling with fabric and color.
This exhibit is a collaboration with Dolores Mountain Quilt Guild, Cortez Quilting Company and borrowing from the collections of Connie Nordstrom and Patty Joy.
