Childbirth Education courses taught through hospitals can be incredibly valuable for all expectant families. However, because of time restraints and hospital standards, those educators are not able to cover many of the important topics in birth. The Durango Doula Childbirth Education course covers often neglected topics such as: nutrition, informed consent and refusal, GBS testing, alternatives to standard procedures, community resources and referrals, meditation and breathing techniques, early labor comfort measures at home, natural induction and augmentation options, the sexual nature of birth and hormonal movements fundamental to labor, anatomy and physiology of birth, newborn procedures, and well family care in the early postpartum period. The course is designed to offer more than what to expect, but rather what do YOU want.
Though the course most often focuses on unmedicated birth options, it is open to all families, regardless of their birth plans. Studies show that expectant mothers and their families benefit from childbirth education, no matter where they choose to deliver and with any provider.
You can register for the full 4 week course or drop in to individual classes. $200 for the entire series (including materials) or $175 if you register before March 16th. Sign up 2 or more couples and recieve an additional discount! $50 for drop ins.
April 21st: Standard procedures. Discussing informed consent, options and alternatives, understanding bias, writing a birth plan, and more. Coping with “surges†practice.
