Durango Nature Studies' Night Sky Astro-Tour
Sat, May 16, 2015
8:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Join Durango Nature Studies and astronomer John Buting for a tour of the night sky. Here's a bit of information about the first of four Astro-Tours John will be offering this year for Durango Nature Studies:
"We'll start the program with a view of Mighty Jupiter and its dancing moons--our Solar System's largest planet will be almost directly overhead at sunset which should provide some spectacular views. Spring is also THE preferred time to look at distant galaxies far beyond our own Milky Way. We'll take a peek at several that are MILLIONS of light years from us, as well as additional specatcular "deep sky" objects. Saturn will close the program with a BANG!. Just making its way on stage now, the "ringed planet" is universally EVERYONE's favorite telsecope object. It's magnificent, 3D ring system never fails to stupefy even the most-seasoned sky watchers."
