DESCRIPTION
Dr. David Wenger, professor and director of the Lysosomal Diseases Testing Laboratory at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, will present " Aren’t You Dyeing to Know: Testing of Dyes in Early Navajo Weavings," in the Center’s Lyceum Room 120 at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10th.

Dr. Wenger will talk about why testing red-dyed and blue-dyed wool in Southwestern textiles is important, and what dye testing can and cannot tell us about a weaving. He will illustrate the method he uses for testing textiles and will take time to compare his method with others commonly used to analyze dyed fibers.
