Lecture: Imagining the West and Searching for the Sublime: The Perpetual Dream of American Landscape Painting and Photography
Wed, June 24, 2015
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Over the last 20 years, journalist Judith Reynolds has reported on the visual arts, drama, and music for the Durango Herald. In addition, she has taught art history courses at Fort Lewis College and co-authored the first biography of Gustaf Nordenskiold, the first scientist to catalog the ruins of Mesa Verde. Her interest in early imaging of the American Southwest dates from a lecture Ansel Adams gave at the University of Michigan when she was a student studying photography.
Reynolds will frame her presentation in the summer series with Adams's great images of the American West.
