Present an evening with
Rosa Parks: "Setting the Record Straight"
September 16, 7 pm
Scholar/actress Becky Stone will portray civil rights activist, Rosa Parks, at the Durango Arts Center, Durango, CO. Chautauqua programs bring history to life as they offer an entertaining and active way of learning about historical figures.
Parks, a black southern woman, became a symbol of the civil rights movement in the 1960s because she refused to give up her seat in the “white section†of the bus she was riding after a long day of work. Parks’ story, however, is much more than this one act of civil disobedience. Becky Stone will give us her story, and answer questions as she “becomes†Rosa Parks. She will also discuss her scholarship and preparation for this role.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free. Everyone is welcome!
