Durango Nature Studies' Silent Nature Workshop
Sat, October 3, 2015
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
End the Nature Center season as the earth starts to close down for its winter cycle with a testament to the power of solitude in nature. Workshops at nature centers often involve a lot of words. People enjoy learning the names of plants and animals while hearing stories involving natural history. This can be a lot of fun! But it is not the only way to learn about nature. This workshop will teach about the natural world without speaking. After an introduction, participants will be asked to remain silent during a 1-hour hike through the nature center. This will be more than a walk. There will be activities and experiences that words are not necessary to describe. After the hike we will return to our voices to discuss what our senses discovered. All workshop participants receive free entry to the Nature Center, which is open from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
