This course will be an introduction to the French language and culture. The four basic skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed with a particular emphasis on oral communication, the acquisition of concrete vocabulary and basic grammar skills. My goal is to make language learning enjoyable by using cognate based vocabulary–ex. animal, radio, hôtel etc. and opening your eyes to the amount of French vocabulary that surrounds us daily–ex. cuisine, denim, R.S.V.P. etc. We will employ music videos and interactive activities that will help uncover the incredible influence the French language has on English. (Hint)-you will discover why Cinderella wore a “glass” slipper! I will also encourage daily on line practice with Duolingo.
