Embark on a journey to yesteryear where amazing finds you this winter season! Ride a historic steam train 26 miles each way on this 5-hour round trip train ride to Cascade Canyon. Departing from the Durango Depot, this trip takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River while relaxing in heated coaches. Cascade Canyon is a destination like no other and is the perfect setting for a fire-side lunch, photo opportunities or a walk along the Animas River to the footbridge on your 45-minute layover. All trains have a concession car with a variety of snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Dine is one of our historically significant rooms. We can accommodate parties of 4-10 people.   This is takeout with style, as our guests begin their journey in our Diamond Belle where they will get their temperature checked, place and pay for their order and then be escorted to a private dining space.   Guests will be given a direct line to our food and beverage team in case they need anything during their visit. Food and drink items are delivered to the entrance of the space, and guests will retrieve their items for delivery to their table. Our servers will not enter the dining space while guests occupy the space.   Menu selections are from our Mahogany Grille steak and seafood menu.   This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Once restaurants are able to re-open to in-room dining, we will discontinue the program.   The Suite Dining is available Thursday – Sunday, 5PM – 9PM. We are excited to announce the 2nd season of the 7 Rivers Farmers Market. It will be held every Tuesday from 12-3 at the La Plata Fairgrounds. Market starts November 3rd and goes thru April 27th. We have an amazing assortment of local farmers with poultry, pork, beef, salad greens, tomatoes, peppers, goats milk cheese, eggs, jams and pickles, honey, herbs, baked good, lotion bars, jewelry, energy bars, soaps and So much more. Get your weekly food needs done and start your holiday shopping.

There will be prizes for winners and raffle prizes.   There is a long and short course. All levels of experience are welcomed. Come on out and enjoy a fun morning + support a great cause!   We will be complying by all COVID restrictions required by Purgatory Resort. 100% of the proceeds will go towards avalanche education scholarships.

McDonald's Winter Triathlon

Join us for the McDonald’s Winter Triathlon. This event is for individuals or teams to compete in or complete a winter triathlon consisting of a ski, fat bike, and snowshoe leg. Race categories include Adult Male, Female and Coed, and Youth Male, Female and Coed (Youth is 18 and under). Adults race a 5k ski, 10k fat bike, and 3k snowshoe. Youth race a 3k ski, 6k fat bike, and 2k snowshoe. Depending on the number of participants in each category, we plan to have a mass start for each respective category (there will be a limit of 10 people in a mass start). Prizes for top finishers in each event! Youth: $10/individual event, $20/team event Adult: $20/individual event, $40/team event Online Registration Only: Closes on Thursday, 1/28 at 6pm.
