This band has been performing throughout the southwest and is happy to be performing for our hometown friends.   The Badly Bent, in the words of Bryant Liggett, "has been a mainstay in the local bluegrass scene for over 20 years." The band has had a wide variety of member musicians through the years and has been able to reimagine itself with each new configuration. The Badly Bent for 2024 is no exception!   From Patrick, Mark, Joel, and Alex, thanks to all our loyal friends and fans who have stuck with us through more than two decades.

Writers + Scribblers
6:00pm / Durango Public Library
W&S is a group for writers of all kinds to learn, practice, and share the art and craft of writing. We're based in Durango, Colorado.   W+S meets regularly on the second Wednesday of every month!   The group is open to those interested in writing and the publishing process. Meetings are run by using a 'pass the torch' method; everyone is encouraged to participate, but it is not a requirement. Our main purpose is to try to help each other through the maze of things you must do as writers; from writing to editing and on to publishing and marketing your books, short stories, essays, or anything else. Discussion topics will vary and sometimes repeat depending upon the needs of the members at the time. Of course, we're also here to meet some interesting folks, learn, and have fun while doing so. Writers are invited to share what they're working on with everyone, but 'selling from the podium' is frowned upon. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Durango Public Library.

BOOze & Bites Light Food Tour
4:30pm / Perbacco Cucina Italiana
Durango is known for its skiing, scenic narrow gauge train, picturesque mountains, river rafting, and culinary delights. But the history of this frontier town was violent, tragic, and often lonely. Just below the surface of this magical place is a dark undercurrent. Souls of former shopkeepers, railroad men, gamblers, blacksmiths, and prostitutes (known as sporting girls) still linger in the historic buildings. We have chosen three of our favorite haunted locations for this tour. Nibble on light bites of delicious cuisine while sipping your favorite cocktail. You will hear ghost stories from each location, speak with the owners and staff, and indulge all your senses as you imagine the events that happened in the very places we visit. Each location has active hauntings so you never know what we might encounter!   Tickets: $75 per person (includes food but not drinks)   Tour Requirements: The purchase of alcohol is not included or required. All tour guests must be 21+ with a Valid ID (younger people are allowed on private tours). This is a walking tour that covers a little under a mile in total. Because we do visit bars in historic buildings that are not wheelchair accessible, this tour is not recommended for those with mobility restrictions.

Bayfield Death Cafe
1:00pm / Pine River Library Community Room
Pine River Library is one of many groups in 79 countries across the world that host Death Cafés. A Death Cafe is a time and place where people come to share food, drink tea or coffee, and discuss death openly and honestly. The aim is to increase awareness about death in order to help people make the most of their (finite) lives. There is never an intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product or course of action. A Death Café is not a bereavement support or grief counseling setting, nor is it a place to give people information about death and dying. It is not for people who, for whatever reason, are unwilling to discuss the subject of death comfortably and openly. Interesting conversations are guaranteed! These events are facilitated by Lola Montano, a registered nurse who is pursuing her hospice certification and is interested in becoming a death doula.    Join us every third Tuesday of the month from 1-2:30 pm.
