Medicinal Mushroomery in the Rocky Mountains
10:00am / Online due to covid (and season...)
Taught by Durango herbalist and microbiologist, Dr. Anna Marija Helt.    The Rockies are full of medicinal mushrooms. Some are delicious edibles, while others will break your teeth. Mushrooms have been used for many centuries for acute and tonic effects in the body, and the tradition and science show influence on everything from immunity to heart health to digestion and mood. Learn about some of the most common species you'll encounter here in the Rockies and pick up a bit of mushroom medicine making know-how along the way. A demo on mushroom double extracts will be done and samples will be available for students via no-contact-pickup in Albuquerque. (For any SW Colorado folks, let Marija know and she can have local pickup in Durango.)
An Evening with Victoria Vox & Jack Maher
7:00pm / On-line Concert
The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College is continuing the Artists You Should Know Concert Series with Victoria Vox (ukulele, voice & mouth trumpet) and Jack Maher (bass ukulele, voice & guitar) broadcast from their home in Los Angeles, California.   Victoria and Jack reconnected 18 years after their first meeting at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Both established performers in their own right, they eloped in 2016 and have labeled their duo performances under the moniker, Jack & the Vox. Stylistically they are a bit Americana, jazz, folk, and pop, but really, there are no boundaries and have an extensive catalog of original tunes. In 2019, they toured the East Coast (US), Canada, Czech Republic, the U.K., and Germany.   Tickets are $15 for individual and $25 for family households and on-sale now. A private link will be sent to all ticket purchasers the week prior to the event and is valid for 48 hours. Don't wait until the last minute!
