Animas River Days includes these sporting events: river surfing, stand-up paddling, freestyle kayaking, boatercross, raft and kayak slalom, an inflatable rodeo and the local's favorite costumed river parade.   The Animas River is the heart and soul of our community! We are partnering with ?San Juan Citizen's Alliance and other local conservation groups to help you learn about how you can get involved in keeping our local rivers healthy and safe.   We are committed to healthy rivers and healthy people. The Durango Flea Market is an open-air market open to the public every Sunday from the first weekend of May through the first weekend of November.    We are only closed during Memorial Day weekend and the second Sunday in August during the La Plata County Fair.    We are conveniently located on North Main Avenue in the La Plata County Fairgrounds parking lot. Plenty of free parking for shoppers! You'll find great deals on just about everything under the sun: antiques, housewares, clothing & jewelry, toys, sporting goods, food and who knows what else!

Embark on an Incredible Journey Through the San Juan Mountains!   For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this steam train plus spend 2 hours in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. If you long to unwind and enjoy Colorado nature at its finest, this is the trip for you.

Great opportunity to support your local veterans while enjoying a delicious breakfast! Open to the public, this event is held every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month from 9 AM to 11 AM at the VFW Post 4031. Donations of only $8 for adults, $7 for veterans, and $5 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds help support local veterans!
